Perhaps I ought to call you...Snowdrop! That would suit you very well, I think, as white as you are. And it was snowing on Christmas Day when Blue gave you to me. Snowdrop was what we called Dinah's white kitten, so I do hope that you and she won't mind sharing that name. And Snowdrop, if I may call you that, I've just met another Alice, and I certianly don't mind sharing my name with her, only so long as nobody's confused. I do hope they'll be able to tell the two Alice's apart. And, since Snowdrop isn't here in the City, Snowdrop--the other Snowdrop, Dinah's Snowdrop, I mean--surely no one will confuse the two of you.

Yes, I think Snowdrop will suit you very well. And I think Blue will like it too, don't you?

This Year's Resolutions
1. I resolve to stop tormenting Blue with puns. Well, at least some of the time.
2. I resolve to continue to be better at Sam at Mario Kart.
3. I resolve to listen carefully to my friends when they give me good advice, because I usually need it when they offer it, whether or not I realize it at the time.
4. I resolve to be more modern in some things, and to stay properly old-fashioned in others.
5. I resolve to trust the people who want to protect me, without immediately insisting that I don't need it.
6. I resolve to find ways to protect myself, so I can occasionally insist that I don't need it.
7. I resolve to be truthful. Especially to myself.
8. I resolve to learn how to drive the car, at least enough to get someone to the hospital if there's another emergency.
9. I resolve to stop worrying about love. Well, at least some of the time.
10. I resolve to make my father proud of me.

Well, last year I made ten resolutions and I ended up keeping all but one of them, so with any luck, this year will be the same. I think those are fine resolutions to have, though, aren't they? Even if some are considerably easier than others to keep.

Still, the point of resolutions is to give us something to think about and to strive for, so it only makes sense that some ought to be more difficult than others. There wouldn't be any point if they were all easy, would there? And if they were all impossibly difficult, one might get discouraged and never complete any at all, and then there'd be no point to that, either. So I think these are just fine, the way they are.

There's still a day and a half left, though. I might still--no. No, I think not. It'll just have to wait. And that's all right, too, isn't it?

Now then, other than setting resolutions, how does everyone plan to celebrate the coming of the new year?

Oh, it's this curse again?

I think I remember this happening last year. Well at least it isn't that bad of a way to end the year-- as far as curse go, I guess? Though it does seem like this place likes curses that makes people list things...

It was nice seeing that it actually started to snow as much as it did around Christmas time and that it still is actually, so maybe the New Year won't start off weird it was this year at least.

I hereby solemnly resolve not to make any New Year's resolutions--and that's the only resolution I think I'll manage to keep.

Quick update for anyone who's willing to pay attention; I know Harry Dresden posted about this, but anyone who receives an organ, it'd be great if you could get them to the Police Force. He and Chris Skelton have been investigating each case and have confirmed that at least two of the organs were from the same woman.

While I'm talking about the Force... we are trying to rebuild after losing so many people, but it's not easy. So two quick things.

First, any individual groups that are open to cooperation, we're definitely willing to work with you, given our current status. If we're all trying to protect people here, it'll probably be a hell of a lot more efficient if our efforts are coordinated.

Second, we are always recruiting. So if you're even a little interested in helping to protect some people in this goddamn place, you can talk to anyone on the Force.

On that note, our Forensics department is one of the most short-staffed right now, so I'm asking if anyone qualified to help in any kind of forensic work is willing to help out, let me know here. Doctors, any kind of analysts, scientists, whatever. If you can get something out of examining a body, body part or victim, evidence or a scene, anything like that, we can use all the help we can get.

So, yeah. There aren't many of us left, but we're trying. We'll keep doing that as long as we're stuck here. And... that's about it.

I wouldn't have imagined it would keep snowing, but it seems that I was wrong. While we did get snow in Midgar, it was never this constant and rarely as picturesque. But it's certainly a nice change.

Provided we don't all get snowed in.

[I really do love this season~ There's something very serene about seeing the world covered in snow like it is now. Though the cold is a bit uncomfortable after a while, I've actually taken to using a small blanket at night now.

But it's of little consequence! It was very nice that nothing happened on Christmas itself, despite some of the curses prior to the holiday. And I hope everyone else had a good Christmas~]
